Where Is Jehovah Rapha In The Bible

The Meaning Of Jehovah Rapha

Jehovah Rapha is an important character in the Bible. It is translated from Hebrew and means “Jehovahor Yahweh who heals.” Jehovah Rapha is referred to in both the Old and New Testaments.
The first mention of Jehovah Rapha is found in Exodus 15:6. This passage links healing to the presence of God. It reads, “Thy goodness is as a stream of mercy, O Lord, thou preservest men, and beasts alike; How excellent is thy loving kindness, O God, therefore the children of men put their trust beneath the shadow of thy wings.” This verse is speaking of the Lord’s protection and mercy over mankind.
The word Jehovah Rapha is also found in Deuteronomy 7:15, which states: “Jehovah which healeth thee.” This verse speaks of the power of the Lord to heal and protect His people.
Jehovah Rapha is also found in the Christian New Testament. The book of Luke 7:3-8 tells of a Roman Centurion whose servant was very sick. He sent the Jewish leaders to ask Jesus to heal his servant. The Jewish leaders spoke to Jesus and said, “Thou art the one they call Jehovah-Rapha” implying that Jesus was the Lord that had power to heal.

Jehovah’s Healing Power

The healing power of Jehovah is described in Isaiah 53:5. It reads, “But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon him; And with His stripes we are healed.” This verse holds a powerful message of hope for the healing of mankind through the word of God.
The prophet Jeremiah also spoke of Jehovah Rapha in Jeremiah 30:17. This verse reads, “For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord”. This verse speaks of the Lord’s promise to restore health and comfort to those that seek it.

Miracle Cures

The Bible is filled with stories of healing miracles performed by Jesus and other leading figures in the Bible. Jesus performed many miracles of healing, such as healing a man with leprosy, a blind man and a paralyzed man. In addition to these healing miracles, Jesus also gave sight to the blind, restored limbs to the lame and raised the dead.
Other Biblical figures, such as Moses, Elijah and Paul performed healing miracles. Moses healed the waters of Marah, Elijah healed a man with leprosy and Paul healed a woman who had been crippled for 18 years.
The healing power of Jehovah Rapha is also seen throughout the Old Testament. God’s promise to bring healing and deliverance to the Israelites is described in Isaiah 30:26: “Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the Lord bindeth up the breach of His people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.”

Taking Comfort in the Word

The Bible offers comfort and strength to those who suffer. The book of Psalms is filled with verses that speak of God’s power to bring healing, comfort and peace. The book of Isaiah speaks of healing and deliverance for those that trust in God.
One of the most comforting verses is found in Job 5:17-18, which reads: “Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: For He maketh sore, and bindeth up: He woundeth, and His hands make whole.” These verses speak of God’s power to bring comfort and healing to those who are suffering.

Jehovah Rapha is available to all believers in Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that we have access to this power through faith in God. In addition to faith, we can access the power of Jehovah Rapha through prayer and obedience to God’s word. James 5:15-16 reads, “And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” This verse speaks of the power of prayer to bring healing and forgiveness to those who seek it.
