The Bible encourages us to make use of these gifts and to draw on the power of the Spirit to defeat the works of evil.

Additionally, in 1 John 4:4-5, we learn that God has given us the victory over evil through His son Jesus Christ. Therefore, we should have faith in Him and rely on His power to overcome anything that Satan might throw our way.
Living In A Fallen World
The Bible recognizes the reality of evil and suffering in this world. In the book of Job we read that God allows suffering in order to refine us and to teach us lessons. The book of Romans also points to the fact that Jesus’ death and resurrection was God’s ultimate response to evil in the world. In John 16:33, Jesus himself says that, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Additionally, in 2 Timothy 2:19, we are told that with faith and patience we will “inherit the promises of God.” Therefore, the Bible encourages us to stand firm in our faith and hope in spite of the presence of evil in the world.
Living In A Sinful Nature
The Bible recognizes that we live in a world of sin and suffering, and as a result, it encourages us to strive for holiness. In Romans 12:1-2, Paul encourages us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. The Bible also emphasizes the importance of walking in the Spirit and avoiding the sins of the world (Gal. 5:16-25). Additionally, in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Paul urges us to flee from all forms of sexual immorality, as it is one of the greatest sins in the eyes of God.
The Bible also emphasizes the need to recognize our own sinful nature and to repent of our sins. In 1 John 1:9, we are promised forgiveness and cleansing from our sins if we confess them.
