The Bible mentions nothing of the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ specifically, but it does discuss the consequences of immorality, recklessness, and many other similar behaviours. When we look at the Bible through a modern perspective, there are seven sins or vices that stand out as the ones most strongly condemned. They are pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth.
Pride is one of the most commonly seen and worst of the seven sins. Proverbs 11:2 says: “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” Pride is rooted in the desire for recognition and superiority that can damage relationships with others or, worse yet, one’s relationship with God. Contrary to popular opinion, pride isn’t always a bad thing, but considering it as one of the seven deadly sins means that it’s seen as a sin when taken to an extreme.

It is an act of betrayal, and it cuts deep into the fabric of relationships, both in terms of our relationship with God and in terms of our relationships with one another. Lust is an extreme craving and it leads one to seek pleasure, rather than righteousness and holiness.
Envy is a form of coveting, and it involves wanting something that someone else has, even if they are undeserving of it. Proverbs 14:30 says that “envy rots the bones.” People who are envious of another will become resentful and jealous, which can cause them to be consumed with anger and bitterness.
Gluttony is an excessive consumption of food or drink, and it is one of the seven deadly sins. Proverbs 23:2 states that, “put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony.” It can affect both the physical health of an individual, due to overindulgence, and their spiritual well-being, due to the lack of self-control it requires.
Wrath, or uncontrollable anger and rage, is a sin that can be dangerous and destructive. Proverbs 19:19 tells us that, “a man of great wrath will bear the penalty, For if you rescue him, you will have to do it again.” We should strive to remain calm and humble in the face of anger and adversity so that we don’t succumb to this deadly sin.
Lastly, sloth is a form of laziness and indolence, and it is one of the seven deadly sins. Proverbs 12:24 warns us that, “The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.” It is the sin of wasting an individual’s potential and opportunities, and it is often accompanied by lethargy, apathy, and an unwillingness to do even the simplest tasks.

It tempts one to seek pleasure rather than righteousness or holiness, and it is a major theme in the Bible. Jesus said that it was better for one to gouge out their own eye than to lust after something that isn’t rightfully theirs.
Envy
Envy is a dangerous sin and it involves wanting something that someone else has, even if they are undeserving of it. It leads to everyone from anger and bitterness and can cause relationships to deteriorate. It is a vice that is strongly condemned in the Bible, particularly when it involves things that belong to God.
Gluttony
Gluttony is an excessive consumption of food or drink, and it can have severe impacts on both the physical and spiritual well-being of an individual. It is seen as a lack of self-control, and it is condemned in the Bible as a sign of negligence and irresponsibility.
Wrath
Wrath or uncontrollable anger and rage is a dangerous sin and can have destructive consequences. We should control our tempers and strive to remain humble in the face of adversity to prevent us from succumbing to this deadly sin.
Sloth
The final one of the seven deadly sins is sloth – which is laziness and indolence. It is the sin of wasting an individual’s potential and opportunities and is often accompanied by lethargy and apathy. It is the sin of neglecting responsibilities and the tasks at hand.
