Andrew was one of the early disciples of Jesus in the New Testament. He was the brother of Simon Peter, and his name (Andrew) means “manly” or “brave” in Greek. Andrew was the first person to follow Jesus and invited others to come to Him after his conversion.
Andrew and his brother, Simon Peter, were fishermen living in Bethsaida and working in partnership with another man named John. When they were called by Jesus to follow Him, both brothers immediately left their nets and followed Him from that moment on.
