God’s Promises of Guidance
God’s promises often bring us assurance that we are never alone. He is always with us. The Bible says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:8). And this promise is fleshed out in practical ways. In Philippians 4:13, the Bible says, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
God has also promised to guide us. Isaiah 48:17 says, “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.” He also promises us that after-coniphering the right decision, He will be our strenghtener. In Isaiah 41:10, it reads, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you.”
God’s Promises of Rest
In this challenging, often overwhelming world, rest can seem hard to come by, particularly for those of us who suffer from chronic illness or nagging worry. But we can be comforted by God’s promises of rest.
Our souls can be replenished from weary moments. The Bible states, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). He also promises to be a refreshing source to us in our most exhausting times. In Isaiah 40:31 He declares, “But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
God’s Promises of Provision
God’s promises also provide hope in times of financial distress. He promises to always provide for those that love and serve Him. In Matthew 6:26 He says, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
In addition to provision for physical needs, God also promises us provision for spiritual needs. Psalm 84:11 says, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless.”
God’s Promises of Blessing
God promises to bless us with His favor and grace when we are obedient towards Him. Deuteronomy 28:1-14 speaks of many blessings that He showers us with if we remain faithful – protection against enemies, favour in the sight of the Lord and man, grain, wine and oil, plenty of offspring, and many more.
God also promises us blessing if we simply put our trust in Him. He remains faithful even when we are not. As Psalm 31:19 says, “How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.”
God’s Promises of Faithfulness
God’s faithfulness will last forever, no matter what life brings. In Psalm 36:5 it reads, “Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.”
God’s promises extend beyond this life as well. In 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we live by faith, not by sight.” This means He will never abandon us. We have a wonderful hope of eternity with Him.
God’s Promises of Love
One of the most important of God’s promises is His unconditional love for us. He loves us even though are not perfect. In 1 John 4:9-10 we are told, “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
He does not love us because of what we have done. He loves us for who we are, and despite our sins. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
God’s Promises of Redemption
God’s promises provide hope of restoration and redemption. After a fall, He always provides a way back to His grace. Psalm 51:1-12 is a great example of how God promises us healing and restoration if we come back to Him in repentance and seek forgiveness.
God’s promises of redemption reminds us that no matter how far you go away from Him, no matter how severe your sin, there’s always hope. As Romans 8:1 reads, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
God’s Promises of Wisdom
We can their draw strength from the promises of knowledge, strength and wisdom God gives us. We are promised the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us understand His teachings and lead us in our decisions. James 1:5 assures us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”
God also promises us wisdom that is rooted in His love for us. He promises to not only enlighten us but to guide us in the right way. As Proverbs 3:5-6 reads, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.”
God’s Promises of Hope
The most important promise God makes is that of hope. In this world of pain and brokeness, it can seem hard to remain hopeful. But God promises us that “hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us” (Romans 5:5).
No matter what we’re going through, He is faithful and just to bring us out of it victoriously. The Bible reminds us that “we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
