The bible acknowledges that an individual has his allotted time to die and no one can escape death. In the book of Ecclesiastes, the bible tells us that, “there is an appointed time for everything” 1. This refers to life and death and ultimate destiny of the soul. Various methods such as proper lifestyle and diets, periodic health check-ups, medications, exercise and other interventions are available to help maintain overall health. There have been advances in medical science to save and prolong an individual’s life. But no one can stop death from coming. According to the bible, the time of a person’s death is ultimately predetermined by God 4. It is ultimately an act of His free will which no one can control.

He may or may not allow for medicines, technology or interventions to delay or advance the time of death.
