The bible acknowledges that an individual has his allotted time to die and no one can escape death. In the book of Ecclesiastes, the bible tells us that, “there is an appointed time for everything” 1. This refers to life and death and ultimate destiny of the soul. It is worthy to note that even though our own final destination is Heaven or Hell, death itself marks the end of life on earth 2. It is something that none of us share in common, that all of us will one day reach our own appointed time to die and no human being can go against death
All of us want to live a long and peaceful life. But, if our appointed time to die is early or before our time, the only one thing that can be done is to submit to God’s will and accept the situation. According to the bible, those who have accepted their situation have found strength to bear the sad news with courage and fortitude. The bible talks of Job, who was afflicted beyond measure by his enemies and how he faced them with courage and accepted His ultimate fate with courage 3. In the same way, if death comes early, we should accept it and move on.
As for medical science, the longevity of life depends on the overall health and well-being of a person. Various methods such as proper lifestyle and diets, periodic health check-ups, medications, exercise and other interventions are available to help maintain overall health. There have been advances in medical science to save and prolong an individual’s life. But no one can stop death from coming. According to the bible, the time of a person’s death is ultimately predetermined by God 4. It is ultimately an act of His free will which no one can control.
The bible affirms the fact that God knows everything and He plans the timing of an individual’s life and death. He may or may not allow for medicines, technology or interventions to delay or advance the time of death. It is also true that some life-extending interventions may be able to extend the life of an ailing person, but one should always be aware of the ultimate purpose and will of God. We should accept the divine will and surrender if death comes before one’s time. This can bring a peaceful death and will bring honor to the name of God.
Suicide and Ultimately Death
Suicide is the act of ending one’s own life. According to the bible, suicide is considered a grave sin against God 5. It is stated that those who commit suicide cannot enter heaven. It is seen as a major affront to the will of God and hence is punishable with spiritual death. While suicide attempts may lead to physical death, ultimately it is the spiritual death that will come judgement day.
The bible also makes it clear that no one has the right to take their own life. Life is sacred and must be respected. It is meant to be lived to the fullest and under the will of God. It is up to the individual to honor and make use of the time God has given him or her. Even if death comes early, the individual should accept this as part of God’s plan for him or her.
God’s Plan for Our Time
Every individual has a limited period of time allotted to him or her. This is the time to do good and reap the rewards from one’s works. Time should be used judiciously to achieve meaningful goals in life. The bible tells us that we should “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” 6. This means that one should use this time on earth to gather all the spiritual treasures that will result in eternal bliss.
God has a plan for each one of us and it is grand and perfect. We should accept His plan wholeheartedly and live our life faithfully, taking each day as it comes. We should never take our life into our own hands and end it prematurely, as the bible clearly states that no one has the right to do so.
Respect For The Gift Of Life
Life is a precious gift from God, and it should be respected and cherished. We should remember that it is something that is borrowed from God and must be given back eventually. The bible states that what is given must be given back and this is applicable to life as well. We should take careful steps to live life wisely and not let it slip by without making a difference.
Life is something that should be embraced, even if it comes to an end prematurely. Even if death comes early, we should accept it as an act of God’s wisdom and trust that He knows best. Ultimately, no one can go against death and one should submit to the will of God.
Facing Death with Hope and Strength
When death comes before one’s appointed time, it can be hard to accept and come to terms with. The bible tells us that even if death comes, we should “set our hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you” 7. This means that despite death, we should be hopeful of God’s grace and mercy on Judgement Day.
It can be hard to face death but the bible gives us the strength to accept it. It tells us to look forward to the blessings of God and to be hopeful of a better tomorrow. We should face death bravely and with strength, as it is something that we cannot escape from.
Final Thoughts
Ultimately, no one can escape death and the bible clearly states that there is an appointed time for everything. We should take every day in stride living every moment to its fullest. We should accept God’s will if death comes before one’s time and move on with faith in Him. Although it can be hard to accept, we should never take our life away from us, as the bible clearly states that it is a major sin against God which will result in spiritual death.
