God
God, the divine eternal being whose life on earth is not recounted in the Bible, is one of the individuals who didn’t die in the Bible. Despite having been called “the Lamb of God”, is not mentioned as having died in the Holy Scriptures. Even in the stories of crucifixion, although his death is assumed, it was never specified in the Bible—it is only understood.
In turn, it is implied in many passages of the Bible that God is immortal and unchangeable, living permanently without destruction or alteration in His divine existence: ”I am the Lord, I change not” – Malachi 3:6. Thus, God is the Supreme Being in the world, entrusting his plans and salvation for his creation through a set of immutable laws which do not require an alteration or destruction, nor any type of end.
Hebrew Prophets
Nowadays Hebrew prophets are venerated as the messengers of God. According to the Bible, these prophets were sent to announce divine messages and carry out a significant and important mission for Christianity and Judaism; such as Moses who, upon receiving the Ten Commandments, hoped to correct the people of Israel it their most extreme needs. These Hebrew prophets are also considered representatives of God and share his eternal power. Thus, as much as God did not die, neither did the Hebrew prophets who, as intermediaries between heaven and man, were considered spiritual and eternal entities capable of modifying the fate of the world.
Some of the figures of the Bible, who are venerated throughout time and who do not have an account of death in the Scriptures, are the prophets Abraham and Elijah. The cause of their not having any account of the death recorded in the Bible is attributed to the fact they were transferred to heaven while they were still alive and due to their special status in the world.
Enoch
Enoch is a less known but quite mysterious figure in the Bible, a man well known for having pleased God. In Genesis 5:24 it is mentioned: “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him”, He is one of the figures beloved by God, whose end is unknown but could still be guessed due to his relationship with the almighty. This is why he is considered one of the individuals who did not die in the Bible, as it is inferred he was taken directly to Heaven. This is why he is also called “the man of God” and an example of piety.
Salvation Through Jesus of Nazareth
Our faith in Christianity is also marked by certain references of characters who, due to their special relationships with the Lord, were rescued from death. Such is the case of Jesus of Nazareth, a figure venerated by millions who, because of Him, does not include death as part of his story in the Scriptures. He is one of God’s representatives and it is said in the New Testament that his death was part of a plan bigger than death itself, as in his life and death man was redeemed, his sins forgiven and they could attain eternal life.
Biblical Angels
A great majority of Christian worshipers believe that angels exist and have an active participation in the life of humans. Even throughout the Bible, angels are referenced and mentioned as individuals without a clearly defined earthly identity. They are entities associated with God, whose life and death can’t be defined as they do not really exist in this man’s world, as they are heavenly servants.
These angels are seen as immortal creatures whose mission is to serve faith and guide humans to the path of salvation. Therefore, their death is assumed to be nonexistent due to their permanent relationship with the Lord.
Jonah
Jonah is the teller of a peculiar but inspiring story in the Bible, one that is worth commemorating, as his faith was strong despite his circumstance. According to the tale in the book of Jonah, God sent him to proclaim his message in Nineveh, a difficult mission for Jonah; yet, this did not befall him. After defying God, Jonah was thrown into the sea and swallowed by a great fish; and although this seemed to be the end of Jonah’s story, he was saved and thus did not die in the Scriptures.
Jacob
Jacob, a member of the “Twelve Tribes of Israel”, is another figure in the Bible to have achieved a degree of immortality. As described in Genesis 49:33: ” When Jacob had finished giving instructions to his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed, breathed his last and was gathered to his people”, his passing away was not seen as a physical death, but as the fulfillment of his destiny in the spiritual world. Thus, Jacob is venerated in the Bible as the Patriarch of Israel who did not ad his fate to death and kept his faith, a faith that he imparted to all of his descendants.
Eliezer
Eliezer, Abraham’s servant, had no known fate written in the Bible. Although it is assumed he passed away due to old age and his loyalty to his master, it is never explicitly mentioned. In fact, in another part of the same book, Ruth 4:19-22, it is mentioned that the Eliezer would have death and taken to the grave right away. However, this is seen more as an assumption than an account of his passing away; this is why Eliezer of Damascus is considered part of the individuals who lived undying lives in the Bible.
Methuselah and Other Members of the Bible
Methuselah and his sons are also part of the figures in the Bible who do not have an account death in the Scriptures, these members of the Old Testament, theirs ages have been accounted for, Methuselah for instance is said to have lived for nine hundred and sixty-nine years, up to the moment of the deluge who repopulated the world, but there is still no evidence or report of their death.
Moreover, Enos, Amos, and Tharmas, sons of Noah, also lack an account of their passing away in the Bible, nonetheless, since these men were part of the group that was rescued during the deluge, their death might be imply as part of God’s plan.
In conclusio, these biblica characters who did not face death are a reminder that faith in God and righteousness can lead to salvation and immortality. The lives of these unique individuals represent a source of inspiration and encouragement to those who put their trust in the Lord and obey His laws.
