1.Why Timothy was Unique

There were two major instances when Timothy devotedly risked his life for Paul. The first was when Paul was thrown in jail in Philippi and Timothy bravely refused to obey the order to leave Paul alone, choosing instead to spend the night with his mentor in prison.
The second instance was when they reached the city of Jerusalem. Timothy only heeded Paul’s advice because he could see the danger ahead and was convinced that it was better to return to their homeland. Thus, he chose to follow Paul rather than yield to his desire to join the prison scene in Jerusalem.

11.Timothy’s Separation
Paul encouraged Timothy to stay in Ephesus and he appointed him as the overseer of the church there shortly before his own death. What happens to Timothy after this point is unclear, although there are speculations that he visited several cities in brief periods along with other individuals such as Aristarchus, Titus, Tychicus and others.
Woven throughout Paul’s letters is the language of an impending separation from those dear to him, including Timothy. It is also believed that several years after Paul’s death, Timothy continued with the works of apostle Paul, doing what he ought – teaching and helping the Church in various ways.
