God’s Wisdom
When it comes to making important decisions, many Christians turn to the Bible for guidance. After all, the Bible has something to say about almost everything in life. So what does the Bible say about decision-making?
The Bible teaches us that seeking God’s wisdom and guidance is essential when making important decisions. In James 1:5, it says: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” This verse promises the believer that God will provide the wisdom he needs to make the right decision. It is important to remember, however, that God’s will usually isn’t obvious and often we can’t know for certain what the right course of action is.
The Bible also teaches us not to be too hasty with our decisions and to take the time to seek God’s advice. Proverbs 19:2 says, “Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge, and he sins who hurries with his feet.” Therefore, it is important to be patient and pray for wisdom before taking action.
Having Faith
The Bible also teaches us to have faith and leave the outcome in God’s hands. In Proverbs 16:9 it says: “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” This verse teaches us that, no matter how well we plan and strategize, the ultimate outcome of our decisions is in God’s hands and often times beyond our control. As such, it is important to trust that God will guide us and be willing to accept the outcome.
The Bible tells us to be wise in our decisions and seek God’s guidance, but it also tells us to be confident in our decisions. Prayer
Prayer is an essential part of decision-making. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, it says: “Pray without ceasing.” This verse reminds us of the importance of praying for wisdom and discernment. Prayer not only strengthens our faith and provides clarity when making decisions, but it also helps us to be humble and remember that our decisions are ultimately in God’s hands.
Moreover, prayer helps us to trust that no matter what the outcome of our decisions, God will be faithful and provide for us in all things. In Philippians 4:6-7 it says: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” This verse is a reminder that no matter how hard the situation, God will provide strength and peace through prayer.
Listening to Advice
The Bible also teaches us to listen to advice, both from God and humans. In Proverbs 19:20, it says: “Listen to counsel and accept instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days.” This verse reminds us that it’s important to listen to the advice of those around us and to seek wise counsel whenever making decisions. The Bible is clear that those who seek God’s counsel, will have success and will be blessed.

Focusing on God
The Bible encourages us to seek God’s will in all decisions we make. In Matthew 6:33 it says: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” This verse teaches us that we should focus on God’s will rather than our own. It encourages us to keep our minds and hearts focused on Him and trust that He will guide us and provide for us.
The Bible also reminds us to strive for humility in our decisions. In James 4:6 it says: “But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” This verse reminds us that our decisions should be made with humility and trust in God’s will.

Submitting to God

Discernment

In Hebrews 5:14 it says: “But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” This verse reminds us that the more mature Christians are in their faith, the easier it is for them to distinguish between good and bad decisions. Discernment is an essential part of decision-making.
The Bible also teaches us that, in addition to seeking God’s will, we should also use our own knowledge and experience to make wise decisions. In Proverbs 21:5 it says: “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” This verse teaches us that a wise decision is rooted in the knowledge and experience gained through hard work.
