Angels are a popular topic in the Bible, with references to them being found all throughout Scripture. But what does the Bible actually say about angels on earth? Are they present? Are they working to further God’s will? Do they bring us messages and aid us in any way? The Bible’s answers provide us with fascinating insights.
To start off, let us look to the Old Testament. In Genesis 19:15, angels are seen appearing before Lot in the city of Sodom, in order to lead him out of the city before it was destroyed. These angels were messengers sent from God to warn Lot and his family of the destruction that was about to come. Further, in Exodus 23:20-21, we are instructed to be especially mindful of angels on earth, as they are “ministers of the Lord.”
In the New Testament, we find a plethora of records of angels interacting with humans and carrying out God’s will. For instance, in Luke 1:26-38 we read about the angel Gabriel appearing to Mary, telling her she would be the mother of the Son of God, Jesus. This highlights that angels often deliver messages for humans in line with God’s will. Moreover, in Matthew 4:11, we see angels appearing to Jesus after his forty day fast in the desert, wherein they provide him with sustenance and then vanish.
The Bible is replete with accounts of angels on earth interacting with us in various ways, such as talking to and serving us. Angels connect the spiritual realm with the physical realm and are instrumental in God’s ministry in our lives. They are often unseen warriors and guardians in the unseen realm who work on our behalf. The Bible teaches that we can invoke their help in prayer and they can protect us from spiritual harm. We must remember, however, to submit our will to God’s will in all things.
In addition to being guardians, angels are said to be symbolically associated with specific areas, such as health, wealth, and even love.
Angels and Health
The Bible tells us that we should always put our trust in God for matters of health, as it is He who has the ultimate power over our well-being. However, this does not mean that angels do not have a role to play here. In Psalm 91:11-12 we learn that angels can protect us from harm, in particular from sickness, as long as we place our trust in the Lord.
The Book of Daniel also speaks of angels watching over and protecting those who are devoted to God. In fact, according to the Bible, angels are in frequent communication with spiritual beings in the heavenly realms, thus they may be aware of God’s plans to keep us healthy. Moreover, they may also be able to direct healing energy to us. Psalm 34:7 states that “The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear Him.” In other words, angels are able to surround us with protective energies if we have faith in God and ask for help.
Angels and Wealth
In Proverbs 10:22, we are informed that “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow with it.” This suggests that God has the capability to bless us with wealth and financial success if we turn to Him in faith. Again, the Bible mentions that certain angels are responsible for wealth and prosperity. In particular, the archangel Michael is said to have a close association with this domain, according to ancient lore.
The Bible also speaks of angels providing humans with guidance and protection when it comes to financial matters. For example, in Daniel 10:13, the angel lends Daniel much needed wisdom and knowledge in order to interpret his dream concerning a great river. Consequently, we can assume angels are tasked with helping us find our true paths in life, both financially and spiritually. The Bible emphasizes that angels are here to prevent us from suffering financially, as long as we focus our attention on God.
Angels and Love
The angelic realm is often connected with matters of love, with some believers asserting that angels are dedicated to helping us through difficult moments of our love lives. This is because angels strive to bring us closer to God and God is Love itself.
The Bible speaks literally of angelic tasks in matters of love. The example of Tobias, a character in the book of Tobit, is a perfect example of an angel being instrumental in helping a human to find true love. In this story, the angel Raphael acts as a guide for Tobias, who has been searching for a bride. Ultimately, hiring the angel to help his search for a suitable partner ends with Tobias finding true love and happiness.
We can also interpret the angelic role in matters of love from a more symbolic perspective. It is believed that angels are always present, even when we are not fully aware of them. Thus, they can help us on our romantic journey by providing us with insights, courage and inner-guidance. Consequently, it may be useful to pray to the angels for guidance whenever we are in need of love and direction.
Angels and Protection
The Bible states that angels can guard us or protect us from danger (Psalms 34:7). Angels, particularly the Archangel Michael, are said to be especially devoted to protecting us from physical, mental, emotional and spiritual harm. In the Christian tradition, Michael is believed to be a Major Arc-Angel, that is to say he has a special role both in heaven and on earth when it comes to protecting God’s people.
Furthermore, the Bible teaches that we can call upon the spiritual protection of angels through our prayers. For example, we might pray the Psalm 91 to ask for angelic protection. As the Scripture says, “He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” While we must remember to place our trust in God, angels can be seen to be in service of His will, as they often carry out certain tasks on behalf of God.
Angels and Spiritual Growth
The Bible speaks powerfully of angels being able to aid our spiritual growth by providing us with insights, signs and ultimately by helping us to cultivate a deeper connection with the Divine. The Book of Revelations for example, speaks of the “seven angels of the seven churches” and suggests that through them, God is able to communicate a message of hope and inspiration.
Psalm 91:11 tells us that “He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” This suggests that angels have the potential to help us to really connect with our higher selves and to progress spiritually. They remind us that we are held close in the loving arms of God and that He is ready to help us in moments of distress.

They protect us, bring us messages and aid us in our quest for spiritual growth. We must always remember to be humble and to place our trust in the divine will. By doing so, we can direct the power of angels towards our lives.
