The story of Moses
Moses was a well-known prophet in the Bible and led the Israelites out of Egypt to the Promised Land. His story is found in many books in the Bible, most notably the book of Exodus, where he is portrayed as a baby who is saved from drowning by Pharaoh’s daughter and adopted into the royal family. Throughout his life, Moses led the Israelites, performed numerous miracles and received the Law from God.
The exact age of Moses is difficult to pinpoint with any certainty, though many scholars have made guesses based on the events mentioned in the Bible. Moses was born 80 years before the Exodus, and the Exodus began when he was 80, making him approximately 160 years old when the Israelites left Egypt. He lived for another 40 years after the Exodus, but the exact age of his death is unknown.
Moses as a leader
Moses is known for being one of the most influential leaders in history, and many of his teachings are still relevant today. He was the first to introduce the idea of a single God, a concept that shaped many cultures and religions. Early life

Though he was raised in Pharaoh’s court, Moses was no ordinary prince. He was born a Hebrew and Pharaoh soon realized that he would never bend to his demands, so he exiled Moses and sent him to the desert. Here he lived among the Midianites, marrying the daughter of their priest and leading the sheep of the tribe.
The burning bush
It was here in the desert of Midian that Moses experienced his first divine revelation, in the form of a burning bush. God spoke to Moses from the bush and revealed his plans to free the Israelites and lead them to the Promised Land. After first refusing the mission, Moses eventually agreed, as he realized it was his destiny to lead the Israelites.
Moses then returned to Egypt to confront Pharaoh and demand the release of the Hebrew slaves. Pharaoh refused, only to be punished by God with a series of plagues which eventually led to him letting the Israelites go free. At this point, Moses and the Israelites set out on their journey to the Promised Land.
The Ten Commandments
On their journey, God provided Moses with the Ten Commandments, a list of moral and ethical principles which were to be the basis for the nation of Israel. Moses wrote these down on two stone tablets and presented them to the Israelites after they had arrived in the Promised Land. These commandments can be seen as a cornerstone for morality and respect for the law which is still relevant today.
Moses spent the last 40 years of his life leading the Israelites and teaching them the laws of God. During this period he led several campaigns against Canaanite tribes and was victorious every time. He then died at the age of 120, having been one of the most influential figures in history.
