How Did James Die In The Bible? The death of James is one of the lesser known stories from the Bible. It is mentioned in both the Old and New Testament and is an example of the consequences of a disobedience to God’s commands. As with all stories in the Bible, there is a moral lesson to be learned. In this case, it is that disobedience brings pain and suffering, and should be avoided.

In the Old Testament, James is mentioned in Second Chronicles. There, it is revealed that James was the son of the Israelite king whom God had appointed over Judah. Mercilessly, King James set about destroying the Israelites, defying the Lord’s commands, and committing other acts of outrage. As a result, God sent the angel of the Lord to strike him down. James died a few days later as a consequence of his disobedient actions.

Furthermore, in the New Testament, James is brought up in the book of Acts. According to chapter 12 of Acts, James was the brother of Jesus, and was part of the original disciples. Acts recounts how James was arrested by King Herod, strengthening the subversive nature of Jesus’ ministry, and the consequences of disobeying those in Authority. Again, James met his fate due to his disobedience. Herod and his soldiers had him beheaded.

These stories from the Bible, alongside other passages serve to demonstrate the power and authority of God. By looking at these stories, it is possible to gain an understanding of the consequences of disobedience, as none who defy the Lord’s will walk away unscathed. Furthermore, this lesson can be applied through the way that God showed his omniscience, demonstrating his undying attention even in the stories of lesser known characters, such as James.
